Asthma self-management, comprising an asthma diary and an asthma action plan, is known to reduce hospitalization rates by 40%. The Asthma Monitor device is a wearable sensor that comprises a contact microphone, a micro-controller, and a Bluetooth wireless transceiver. This information is then used to automatically populate an electronic asthma diary plan that is on the smart phone which alerts the user to the appropriate, predetermined, asthma action, according to the severity level indicated by the asthma diary plan.
