Cinch is a scoliosis treatment tracker that replaces one of the straps on any existing scoliosis brace with sensors to detect brace-wear time and tightness, the two most important parameters for successful treatment. The instrumented strap syncs with smartphones via Bluetooth to display tracking data via a custom smartphone and web app with tailored information for doctors, parents, and children. Through long-term tracking and instantaneous user feedback, Cinch will improve the treatment experience and brace-wearing habits for children, resulting in improved quality of life, fewer scoliosis surgeries, and a reduction in costs associated with scoliosis.
Wellinks was granted Pre-Seed ($10,000) and Full Seed ($40,000) Awards, which included a combined 240 hours of in-kind service assistance from NEPDC.
