Preterm and critical care pediatric patients often require continuous airway pressure for survival, yet this treatment has been reported as a leading cause of pressure ulcer incidents. The Circadiance pediatric nasal mask is sized for the pediatric population, made of materials soft enough to protect the infants’ skin, and delivers continuous airway pressure without exerting excessive face pressure. Headgear designed specifically for the pediatric population allows for a better and more comfortable fit, providing improved respiratory support and decreasing clinician time used to fit the mask to the patient’s face.
This project was approved for a 2014 Target Challenge award, focused on pressure ulcer prevention.
